Guglielmi said the suspect had 29 prior convictions for crimes such as breaking and entering, and had been released Saturday from the Baltimore County Detention Center after he was arrested by county police in August 2008 for stealing a car in Baltimore. Rice was found guilty in December on one count of unauthorized removal of property, and he was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
Problem solved now?
Oh, here is the one dissenting online opinion. I honestly can't decide if it's satirical or not. The problem is some people really feel this way.
Yes a man broke into someones house and that is very wrong, but did he really deserve to die in such a horrible way, did anyone stop and think why this man was doing what he was doing, and if he had been arrested so many times why is it the government has not done more to rehabilitate these people,(yes they are people at the end of the day) So basically you are all saying that is someone breaks into your house the death penalty should be enforced.....what is wrong with everyone. Why is it only in america that you hear of people getting killed during robberies? Maybe because you have the draconian laws in place?
Everybody else pretty much said he got what he deserved.

AOL.com is running the same story. They have an opinion poll going and it seems everyone sofar is on the side of the victim who was being robbed again. Maybe if enough support votes get out before the bleeding heart liberal media gets ahold of it. He might get some justice.

"REHAB" worked. He may not have deserved it, OK. But I'd have done the same thing to protect my family, and property.

Our criminal justice system at work - since the dead felon attacked our hero even though our hero was holding a fucking SWORD, the hero had reason to believe his life was in danger, and the dead guy learned not to stick his hand into the Cuisinart.
I'd call it a successful learning experience for all, except the University who is advocating the felon be allowed to rob, rape and pillage.

Whatever the pros and cons, I bet that student wished he'd taken a bat and a bright flashlight rather than a sword - bet he doesn't feel quite so much like the sneaky ninja boy anymore

Guglielmi said it is legal to possess a sword in Baltimore, and "individuals have a right to defend their person and their property." But the police spokesman said he was not in a position to comment on whether it was appropriate to use a sword, baseball bat or other means of defense.
Are you kidding me?:tard: He had every right to protect himself and his property. Especially considering the fact that his house had been broken into just the week before. And how is it any different than blowing his head off with a Shotgun? Oh darn, he may have suffered slightly more.... well he won't have to worry about if the next home owner is armed now.
They say that he was convicted of 29 other crimes. How many other crimes had he gotten away with?
found the suspected burglar suffering from a nearly severed hand and laceration to his upper body
Isn't that standard practice in other countries still? Removal of the thief's hand would be a damn good deterant imo... :madaddy:

On the local news they said he was pretty much in the right, with the support of police. Rare in Maryland. You couldn't pay me to live down there.

Makes me think of some good ol Pink Floyd
"I certaintly was in the right"
"That geezer was cruising for a bruising"
"Give em a short, sharp, shock"
Kudos to the guy for standing up and taking 1 more POS out of the system.

Don't Ya think bludgeoning the guy with a bat is a little barbaric?
I believe that using the sword is a very intimate, darkly artistic, and ultimately classic way to say...

people in south africa get killed during robberies all the time, probably with more frequency than any other place in the world.but it's mainly the victims, and if they aren't killed they are brutalised for sure.Ozchic should come live here for a while, she'll change her mind real quick.

That quote can also be construed as "I'm not going to comment on what the appropriate tool should have been as I don't want to taint anybody's opinion on the incident". In other words, if I say he should have used a bat, or gun, or golf club, or candlestick, the media will run with it and say that the sword was the wrong tool. That is the problem with printed word.
