I have the manual MOD CQD Mk1 and really like it; it does everything I'd want and more. I know the autos are out of production but if I come across one are they worth the price?

I don't own one but I believe the CQD Mk 2 fires well...probably because it is smaller.

they don't fire all that hard. (definitely no protech action!) but they are reliable... i have an auto, and have had it apart to clean and tweak... it seems like they have an Xtra large coil spring (bigger then .50, unless knifekits sent me the wrong size springs), but i have not found anyone who has been able to provide a harder firing spring for the MOD (the mark II may have a smaller spring with better torque?).

I replaced the "speed bearing" that they come with, as the bearing does not contact the entire blade area??? i made a custom SS high polish bearing, and put it on a custom pivot barrel (w/ lube grooves) from knifekits.com... and it has a much better feel now!

overall, i am pleased with it... it is my edc, and i use it alot. replaced the belt clip with a chrome one to match the pivot, and it holds much more securely on my belt or molle webbing on my maxpedition gear.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm definitely getting one, its just a matter of finding it.

Sorry I did not answer sooner. Mine fires ok, not protech as stated above but it is a good, well built auto. There is one available at microholics right now. It is a user and cheap, but will get you started...... Like I said, I like mine...

Would any of you be willing to sell your CQD Mark I Auto for a fair price?
