About a year ago I bought (and within a month) lost a Schrade carbon steel Sharpfinger. Of recent I had a craving for a new one, but with the demise of Schrade, I decided to buy a United Cutlery "Outdoor Life" copy of it. The UC copy is made in USA of 420HC. I have no clue if the same machinery is used as the old Schrades where made from. Now, I realize that Taylor Cutlery, under the Schrade name, is making a schrade marked Sharpfinger overseas. Anyways, I realize the UC one probably is not as good as the REAL Schrade ones, but I still think it would be better than the Taylor Cutlery imported 'Schrade'. Does anyone here who has handled the 3 models (Schrade, UC, Talyor 'Schrade') have any opinions on how they stack up against one another?

the sharpfinger is a great knife-I use it all the time for field dressing deer. I have had one for about 20 years and it is irreplaceable. It looks like the outdoor life model is the closer to the original of the two.
