Well I just got back from a 273 mile round trip. Don't know why, just felt a need to go out. About 1900 I jumped in my truck and drove to Jerzee, made it to Burlington before I realized I have to get up fairly early.
Anyone else just go for a drive?

Me and my wife used to before we had kids, the last time was about ten years ago when the inlaws had the kids for a night, we used to love going night driving, set off at midnight just drive for about three hours around the lakes, no traffic, no pedestrians, freedom.

sometimes, there's no other way to relax.
windows down on a 80 deg. summer night with no radio on. just a 6 speed, 300 horses and a long stretch of road....
I just feel free when I get up and drive. :devil1:

I don't know anyones #. I do drive everyday from BWI airport to D.C., NoVa, I usually put around 100-200 miles a day in the busy a/c season, but that is for work, in heavy traffic.
By the time I got to Burlington, it was already 2200. I took my time getting home too. I think if it weren't for the traffic getting out of MD, DE, I would have made my goal. Not sure what I was going to do when I got there but maybe sleep in my truck just to get to my buds house by 0830.

I used to..............about 30 years ago.
There was a lot less traffic, and it was a pleasure to hit the open road. I'd get in the car, point it North, crank up the 8 track, and not stop until I got bored. The drive itself was all I was interested in, but I found a lot of really nice places along the way, that made it that much better.
Nowadays, I don't enjoy long drives. Too much traffic, too many assholes on the road.

I, like Komodo, used to go for looong drives just for fun, because gas was 35 cents per gallon and there was no traffic like there is today. It used to be fun, now it's a chore. :ssad:

I used to go for drives with Clyde. I'd set up some ice cubes & water in a plastic container for Clyde then we'd stop off at the corner store for my large cup of coffee. I'd drive all through town so Clyde could see the 'sights' then it was up on the Garden State Parkway for a cruise north or south... it didn't matter! A few times a year we'd 'shoot' about 90 miles up to Connecticut to visit my sister and niece & nephew.

Presently, I take Casper for just a 3 mile ride up for my coffee and over to the park on a daily basis. We have driven up to Connecticut about four times.

Do I have a compulsion to drive... of course I do... it's how I ended up at Rushmore last year... It's why I bought a Bike... and by god, if driving a car for fun is a good times, riding a bike for fun is one of the best feelings in the world... next to playing paintball.
