:canadianpride: HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!!!!
How about a little joke, I posted it here a long time ago, but I think it fits the day.
God worked long and hard for 6 days to create the world. On the 7th day he was resting but then he started to get bored. So he decided to make another country. He created huge mountains reaching to the sky, vast plains teeming with animals, and huge lakes, for a finishing touch he flanked this new country with two great oceans filled with fish. After all this he stood on a mountain peak and admired his handy work. Wanting to share it with some one he called St. Peter to come look at it.
"Look what I have created Peter," he said, "I'm calling this place Canada."
"Oh it's beautiful," said Peter, "But won't the other countries in the world be jealous?"
"Nope," said God as he pointed south, "Look who I gave these poor souls for neighbors."
:D :D
HAPPY CANADA DAY!
I am proud to be Canadian and all we stand for as a society.
Some of the things I think we are known for include:
Quietly Nationalistic and we support our friends around the world as Peace Keepers, in Afghanistan, and giving Aid to poorer countries.
Ensure each Canadian in each Province and Territory has access to Medical Care.
Welcome new Canadians from around the world.
A democratic society with freedom to choose how we wish to vote.
and now the important stuff:
Best Damn Ice Hockey Players male and female.
Best Damn Beer!
Best Damn Hot Women too!

Enjoy your holiday!

Well, I won't concede it to yous guys, but I will admit our beer ain't the best in the world, it's a high mid level beer that hits the spot, far better than most american beer but nothing compared to you euro's.

I hadn't considered our friends from Germany catching me on this issue. My bad. Actually, I am now more fearful that our friend Jos from Belgium will see this thread.
FWIW
I drink Micro Brew or Brew that I have made myself. I am not a fan of big Canadian Breweries. Lately I have been drinking a nice India Pale Ale from Spinnakers Brew Pub in Victoria BC. Use Google and you will see the nice pub, the B & B and the food too!

Or one of the boys from Down Under. I think their Foster's can compete with any German beer. The folks from Queensland might disagree, they have this competing pornographic beer ...

I love Canada for a number of reasons.
1- RUSH.........RULES MAN!!!
2- My Girlfriend is Canadian. Man can she fire it up in the bedroom.
She says they are all "Horndogs". I can't keep up.
However when her friends travel south to the the US,
they truly are "Horndogs". :madaddy: I love that!!!
3-See Reasons #1 & #2. :devilinheaven:
Love that wild Canadian spirit. A little late but HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!

You lost me there. I lived in Oz for 12 months. They are crazy about their Lager but IMO none of their beers can compete with some of the Euro beers I have tried. Its all like large generic beer brewed in Canada like Blue, Canadian etc.
Oh, I know they will argue and fight to the death defending their XXXX from Queensland, Emu Export from West Australia, Fosters from NSW etc. It is interesting to hear them argue for hours about who has the best beer.
Belgian and German Lagers win hands down according to me :)

:4thjuly:
You know this having Canada Day mid week and July 4th has really thrown me this year.
All the companies I represent in Canada are US manufacturers of wireless components, sub systems, cable assemblies etc.
So on Wednesday, July 1st, Canada Day, I am trying to take the day off.
Phone rings at around 06:30 (as usual) and I didn't answer it.
Voice Mail.
Phone rings again 15 minutes later. Same thing. Voice Mail.
I check the voice mail (dumb) just in case the sky is falling some place.
Its one of my suppliers in Chelmsford MA, I need to talk to you right away.
I phone him back and let him know that it is the equivalent of July 4th in Canada. He says oh, that's nice, can you do...... for me. Wait a sec, its Canada's birthday I tell him. A National Holiday. He says, Oh, I need it before 3 PM my time (12 noon my time).
Fuck me.
Oh well, the commission from that company has kept the lights on here for a few months this past winter. I do it.
Thursday July 2nd I get a call from one of my best customers with a delivery problem from the same supplier that I just told you about. I say no problem, I will contact the factory and get something happening asap. I phone my contact and get his voice mail. It states he is on a plane heading home for the July 4 Weekend. I leave a voice mail stating a potential production line may be shut down unless they get some product to the customer by Wednesday July 8th. If they get their arses in gear, maybe via FedEx P1 it can make it in time.
No response to the voicemail. I try again 2 hours later, voicemail again.
I phone his boss who always answers. Tell him the story and got some action. Fast forward to Noon Friday today. My factory contact phones me and tries to rip me a new asshole. I tell him "just wait one fucking minute here", he stops and says no need to swear. I reminded him that on Canada Day it was cool to get me to work and now it was not cool for me to ask for help when he was 'almost' on a holiday. We agreed that two National Holidays so close together is difficult to manage.
So What I have been thinking of here to resolve this sort of problem that always happens every summer.
USA and Canada merge their birthdays and make it a week long event. No succession ( we don't want the USA's debt, sorry ) or anything like that; we just tell the world that Canada and the USA are on vacation for the two birthdays and not answering phone calls or emails.
Are you with me on this one?
Personally, I love the idea; almost European don't you think?
:decisions

almost European don't you think?
Minus the Brits I would say. They manage to have the Scottish Summer Bank Holiday on the first Monday in August, while the English and Welsh Summer Bank Holiday is on the last Monday in August. Just out of sympathy, the Scots tend to obey the latter as well.
Add to that local observance of St. Andrew's Day, Orangemen's Day, St. Patrick's Day for the Irish Republic, and you have Europe in all its diversity...

So let's broaden the proposal a bit more and add Europe to the mix. Think about it the entire G20 off on holidays for one week in the middle of summer.
Time to reflect, enjoy your families and turn off the blackberry's, smartphones whatever have you.

HAPPY CANADA DAY!
Party it up to night my fellow canuck devils, tonight, we all be awesome.
Now, being that today is our day(that's right you crazy yanks, 3 days from now it's your day but right now it's ours) I find it prudent to post the most canadian of all rants.
Hey.
I'm not a lumberjack,
or a fur trader...
and I don't live in an igloo
or eat blubber, or own a dogsled...
and I don't know Jimmy, Sally or Suzy from Canada,
although I'm certain they're really, really nice.
I have a Prime Minister,
not a President.
I speak English and French,
NOT American.
and I pronouce it ABOUT,
NOT A BOOT.
I can proudly sew my country's flag on my backpack.
I believe in peace keeping, NOT policing.
DIVERSITY, NOT assimilation,
AND THAT THE BEAVER IS A TRULY PROUD AND NOBLE ANIMAL.
A TOQUE IS A HAT,
A CHESTERFIELD IS A COUCH,
AND IT IS PRONOUCED 'ZED' NOT 'ZEE', 'ZED'!
CANADA IS THE SECOND LARGEST LANDMASS!
THE FIRST NATION OF HOCKEY!
AND THE BEST PART OF NORTH AMERICA! MY NAME IS JOE!
AND I AM CANADIAN!
