How good are the X2's, mainly as defense knives? I am considering buying one to EDC past sunset. A have a few questions, though.

1) How does it carry? Will it print in normal fitting pants?

2) How strong is the pocket clip attachment. Is it just screwed into the zytel, or are there metal sleeves?

3) How strong is the lock, and is it secure when the knife is held tight?

4) How easy is it to open, and how fast does it open?

I did a giveaway with mine on BFC. Does that answer your question?

IMO One of the BEST knives for defense is the Cold Steel Scimatar! The main reason is the little ball on the end of the handle, you can find that little ball with one finger,it don't matter if your flat on your back,on your belly, you can find this knife in the dark.
I do study self defense tactics. I have practiced all kinds of scenarios in training with deployment of this knife, lets face it....If you can't deploy the knife to use it than that knife ain't SHIT!
Remember.......fillet or small pokes are best. Never sink the whole blade in,if he keels over you can't pull the blade out as his bones and muscle will hold the blade in.....That is what I was taught anyway.

Oh yeah, the little ball lets the knife ride perfectly in the "low pocket" where the knife is at your hip rather than "high pocket" which place the knife at crotch area if you should land on your stomach that would make it useless.
It also conceals very well....all due to it's design and that damn little ball.

SCIMITAR qualifications:

1. Covered that

2. Pocket clip very strong, held in by 3 screws

3.It's a titanium liner lock, more than adequte holding power, secure in all grips and yes tight.BTW the lock engages over 90% of the blade thickness for lockup,I have seen many high end knives that barely engage half the thickness of the blade.

4. If standing I can flick the blade open.I hold the handles, four fingers on bottom, thumb on top and flick.....same hand grip you would use to pick up a book or pencil off the floor.
On the ground thumb stud. Knife action is smooth and locks hard.

Mine makes an exellent pruning tool. I would not be without one.
Inertia opens it easily.
