This child attends a school in Livingston Parish, LA. Her mother is irate because everyone is getting her name wrong.

It's pronounced "Ledasha", When the Mother was asked about the pronunciation of the name, she said,

"the dash don't be silent."

That is funny a girl I went to high school with, became a social worker. The city she worked for had her go to school to meet her 25 kids age 7-12.
they gave her a list of names. so she was reading the names and having them stand up to put a face with the name. she came to one name and skipped it because of the pronunciation. After she thought she was slick and asked if there was anyone she didn't call. A 12 yr old raised his hand and she asked what his name was. Everyone started to laugh, apparently this was not he first time it happened. the boy said he knew the name was there and for her to try it.
So she pronounced it as it was spelled. "Shithead". All the kids errupted in laughter. the the boy sad said " it is pronounced Sha'theed Bitch not shit head."

It has been 10 yrs since that happened but everytime she comes home to visit everyone asks how shit head is.
