Two weeks ago was my Birthday and we had the Grind-in that same weekend.

A good friend left this for me and He is a member here so I thought you guys might want to see this.

This is a Hoffman Harpoon that was made by Jerry Hossum. I have wanted one of these --like Forever-- and Jerry could not make me one because he was so back ordered.

I frankly had given up trying to find one. This was a very special gift from a very special friend.

I am humbled by the gift and the knife.

Mike............................:thankyou:

Ron,

The tool was Designed By Terrill Hoffman and this one was made by Jerry Hossom.

Terrill is one of the Moderators of the Outdoor Survival Forum on KF, a Professional Photographer and is the Host of the now famous--Practice What You Preach Outing that is sponsored by KF.

Terrill wanted a simple --one piece tool that would serve as a knife and as a spear , if needed, in a Survival Situation.

They were made on special Request by Jerry Hossom ( One of the Badlanders).

The cord wrap is to help as a handle and more importatly--store your paracord for attaching to a spar to make a spear.

The design was supposed to be made commercially by Onterio. After a number of years of hem-hawin' Terrill took the design to TOPs.

They are supposed to start making them for 2006.

I wanted a custom one and Jerry was too busy to make one for me and now he is actually semi-retired. I thought i would never get one and even thought about making one for myself.

If the deal goes through with TOPs--I plan on ordering a couple more for all my survuval gear and my B.O.B.

This was a very special gift and I'll keep the members name confidential. If he wants me to say who it was--I'll let you know.

I recieved a number of very nice gifts for my birthday and didn't want to say too much but this one was just too special to me to keep quiet.
