Got a call sat morning from a buddy, not into guns, at an estate auction that normally does not do guns, had to get my ass over there and found a jewel in the rough. Four guns for sale, three just modern low end stuff that sold for more than you could get them for at a gun show and this one pictured below. Its a 1944 numbers matching all correct(except for grips) and never rebuilt Remington Rand 1911a1 .45! Iam stoked! Shot it yesterday at the range where Iam doing the transfer, even full of 50 years of gunk it functioned flawlessly. Cant wait to get it home and degunk it after the CA ten day wait! Also came with matching date coded 1944 Boyt holster and a vintage cleaning kit. I will post some more pics after I get it home and bathed.Forgot to mention I got it for $440 after auction fee's, Sheck it out!

Breathtaking score-are the grips wood?

Iam still researching the grips, they are plastic and a couple years too ealry for the gun. They also look way more motteled than the earlier grips you see so I dont really know what they are. I did already score a nice pair of the original correct grips for it.

Very nice find. Good job. I'm glad to know you shot it, that will make it that much more enjoyable.
