For those that don't know me, I'm new to the forum. In addition to knife using and collecting I like to dabble in sheathmaking. I was introduced to the hobby by George Tichbourne when I wanted to make a sheath for a hawk i have. I was hooked on leather after that and got into a bit of kydex as well. Here are a few pics of projects I've done...

my friend is the one that bought that spyderco manix sheath with the spyderweb on it.
its freaking awesome. The quality of the sheath is perfect, and I have never seen a leather sheath that held a knife as secure as that one.
You do great work.

bigmikey, thanks for the the solid review. I'm glad to hear the Manix sheath is seeing some use. I originally started it for myself but then I changed my EDC. Take care.
Dwayne, thanks as well for the kind words. You have seen my stuff before. I'm a big fan of knife forums as in my neck of the woods it is ard finding people to talk shop with about knives in person. By "Feel free to stop on in anytime" are you referring to the forum or your shop :schmoove: The latter could prove to quite useful as I have alot to learn and I've seen your work as well.
Take care all.

Hey Chris that Manix sheath looks awesome:thumbsup:.
I'm curious / help me understand something - what is the logic of carrying a folder in a sheath when it has a clip? For sheath carry do you remove the clip?
Thanks,
Neal

Hey Neal, some people dont like the fact that pocket clips on folders tend to chew up the pocket a fair bit over time. Also, some people feel more comfortable carrying large folders around the waist line to make sitting down more conmfortable or to be able to keep the pockets free for other things. On the belt you can also rotate the sheath to where it feels most comfortable. With a sheath you can also access the knife with more ease while sitting down. The fnal reson that comes to mind is that with a sheath you arent restricted to wearing it on your belt, you can fasten it to the waistband or shoulder straps of your pack. Thanks for the inquiry and the kind words. Take care.

Sorry Neal, forgot your second question. FOr the sheath in the pic I removed the clip from the Manix. Folder sheaths canbe made though to accomodate the clip depending on the users intent. Cheers.

Not a problem at al Neal though I forgot the most important reason for a folder sheath; More room for other knives :devilzide. Thanks again for the props and take care.
