I love shotguns! Specifically Remington 870's. I am hoping to send mine out to Wilson Combat for the Standard Treatment. This what it will look like when it's done. I feel sorry for anyone who tries to enter my safe room uninvited.

Very nice! :gogdog: I'm partial to the Ithaca Model 37 myself. One of those old HiStandard Model 10's would be nice as well.

I have a Wilson Combat border patrol in my safe somewhere? I will get it out sometime and take a pic of it and I just might shoot it? :boboli: :blaster: :sheen: :ar15:

my remington 870 with the choate pistol grip stock

ken, how much does that treatment cost?

The Franchi SPAS 12 is a piece of shit. I carried that in Saudi Arabia on the cargo runs between Dhahran, Riyhad, and Al Kharj. Biggest piece of junk I ever laid my hands on. The folding stock is stamped sheet metal and had a tendency to flex. It flexed so much that after 20 rounds it had stress marks around the hinge pins. The heat shield is also stamped sheet metal. That too got so hot it warped on me. Sand! The fucking sand made it very hard to clean and fucked up the action. I traded it in for a Remington Police 870.

as you can tell i have never held one. oh well.

In addition to poor functional qualities, I have always been amazed at how heavy the Spas 12 is. I can't imagine anybody willingly lugging that thing around very long.

I love just about any 870 model. The front scattergun in my safe right now is indeed a Scattergun Technologies (pre Wilson Combat). It does everything I need it to do.

The only mod I have a "need" to try is a Vang Comp'ed gun. One of these days I will get around to getting a barrel from him to put on my spare 870 Express. I have been impressed by the reports on this modification, I just have not had a chance to experience it yet. Anybody actually been able to play with one?

I have an 870 Police ready for any asswipe that decides to invade my home. Parkerized finish with a magazine extension. 18.5 inch barrel and cylinder bore. 2 3/4 inch 00 buckshot. Yeah, I think it will do the trick. :punish:

Benelli makes an awesome shotty as well. I have a Super Black Eagle for Turkey hunting and recenty got a Nova too. Their autos are kinda pricey but the Nova is quite reasonable.

I sent my 590A1 to Hans Vang. It is awesome. The groups are tight and the porting does a great job. That and the fact that Hans is pretty cool and talks to you like he has known you for years. Outstanding service!

On the contrary! Benelli makes some of the finest shotguns around. Unfortunately they are out of my price range. I would love to get my hands on one though. :-D

Something like an 1100 Magnum
That acually shoots 2-3/4, 3 and 3-1/2 inch shells.
Without changing parts and hanging up.
Oh well

Local shop had a bunch of 870 Police magnums come in. I should go trade them something for one, since you can never have enough 870's with an 18-inch barrel.

Myself, I like the 870 and don't ever see that changing.

I think I'd likely enjoy having an 18-inch 1100 as well, have a rib on the barrel with a big dot on the end.

I would also really like to find a good quality SxS 12-ga with exposed hammers, and put a nice high-speed light mount on it like Ken's above.

I have an 870 within spittin' distance of me all day at work. I'm not that into them. I'd rather have a Benelli SuperNova at my side, like I do at home.

I like my vang comped 18" mossie with ghost rings and side saddle. I took a couple inches off the stock and clamped a SF 9P w/ a clickie switch to the mag.

Great for bump in the night investigations and the deer woods.

The only thing I wish I could do different is to be able to own the 14" version.

Oh well

I enjoy my 870 Express Mag. I've gone through a number of stocks w/ it and have ended up with a pistol grip for home maintenance.

Next is a Saiga-12 that I plan to convert to pistol/folder and SBS. My buddy got a bunch of 10-round box mags in so it's off to the races...

BTW, WTF is with Brock resurrecting all of these zombie threads? Dude must be bored or somethin'. :cheesydevil:

My gage is an Ithaca 87 M&P model, 8 rds of 2-3/4 in, but chambered for 3" magnum (damn they hurt) not a sporting gun but it WILL defend my property. I can place a sabot slug on a paper plate at 100 yards. Word.

i didn't even know about tromix built saigas until recently......

before i knew about the tromix, my dream boomstick was a shortbarreled double with exposed hammers....exactly like peter fonda's shotgun in 3:10 to yuma....

who did the work, and what was the base gun?

is that a norinco?

aaron

dominion, imported bynorinco.... probablynot amazing, but not bad for 300

Parker

Yo, Aaron, be wary of the Norinco internals - I have had issues with one of these, the gun will stand some use, but not continuous. My local smithy is a pretty experienced and proper sort, and he fixed mine, cautioned me about continuous use on it due to the internals being on the fragile side.

Also, do NOT engage the retarded cross-bolt safety on this gun. You may be a while dis-engaging it, and there's no need at all for a safety on a double-exposed-hammer gun, lawyers aside.

One other thing - if that is a stock recoil pad, shitcan it for a decelerator. Those stock pads are sorta like a rubber 2x4 :YEOUCH!:

Don't mean to shit on your new Lupara, but figured you may appreciate the voice of experience here before you found out the bad way.

parker, yo u have shattered my dreams AND I WILL never recover :(

seriously though, i realize this things no cadillac of shotties, its a 300 dollar chinese wont ton launcher.

I didnt plan on changing the butt pad, but i might,or might just switch it to some oxidized brass to keep with the "vintage look"

i really just plan on shooting 2 3/4 out of it so that should help with the oomph i feel.

As far as internals, i can assume they arent going to be spot on, but then again i dont do a lot of shooting, so maybe i will look at making some new internals, or just talked to the guys i bought it from for some spares.

how accurate is yours? at say 25-30 feet would it be "minute of man" or is it "minunte of barn" accurate, say with slugs or 00 buck

At 25 yards or so I had no trouble keeping bird nor buck on the 55 gallon drum in the big pit we were shooting into. Mine's a 18- or 20-inch barrel - at 25 feet I can pretty safely say with buck you'd have a 12-inch conglomeration of holes to cope with. With 12 inches, hell, just pick a direction, like north or east, hope for the best ;)

Grab them spares if you can.

Mine is just fine as an occassional type shooter, but I prefer them to be more than that. I'm just an 870 kind of guy. Hard to break em, and a very low number of parts. And you can find those parts ANYWHERE.
