Thanks for the pic...looks well done! I've had those spots too!
Some use rubber cement, which allows you to be able to pull it apart
before stitching if you decide to make any changes..add a weld ect.
The plus is that you can finger rub any messes off after it is dried.
Ive used both but came to prefer glue.
Alot of times I would stain before glueing and stitching. But I was just playing it by ear, being a basement hobby for a brief time years ago.

Thanks,
Bob

Nice work. How do you make your holes for stitching?

Well done! :manganr:

Cement spots happen, best way to avoid them is to dye the leather as soon as possible after cutting.

I tried rubber cement when I first started in leather crafting but gave up as it just doesnt stick well enough, especially at the edges.

Your work is excellent:madaddy: you have really got the basics and clean lines down...

On a personal note, it hinders the entire look of the sheath when the rough side shows, even if it's not seen when on a belt et al. you could try something like this to clean up your loops on pouch sheaths - The top bartack isn't necessary.. actually it's only there to keep the d-ring up:

it's a smple way of keeping the smooth side out and is as easy as cutting a separate loop and sewing through 3 layers of leather (the inside of the belt loop, the sheath leather, and the outside of the belt loop)...

And a hint on how to get perfect round tack stitches (if you do so choose to try them).... use a closed end 12 point wrench.... around 5/8 - 1" each of the grooves on the inside of the wrench are stitch hole markers:devil1:

There are a lot of other cool stitch styles you can incorporate too... just find your niche/knack for those that suit your style.

hope this helps a little and keep up the excellent work !!
