My wife and I went to Cabelas in Dundee today. While wandering around I realized it has been over 5 years since I bought a gun. Shame on me! Cabelas is overpriced IMO, but I did get to play with some nice toys....One was a Browning BLR lever gun in stainless, with a laminated stock. They had two on the used gun rack, in .300 short mag, and a .270. I didn't know they made such an animal, and I can't find it on the Browning website...Custom run maybe? Anybody seen these anywhere?

Also was putting my finger prints on a Savage 99 in 300 savage..(Yes, I'm a lever gun freak)

That being said, I also saw a Remington pump rifle that takes Ar-15 mags..
P.C. urban rifle maybe? Any info on these?

Hi Peter, I'm not much help here but Browning has a Lightning BLR in most long and short calibers. The Reciever is aluminum, not stainless. There were BLR models made in the late 60's early 70's in different Countries. Belgium under FN, Japan, and a BLR USA model which is rare and stamped MADE IN THE USA on the reciever.

I have not heard of the Remington you decribed either. Model 742 was there pump rifles but not accepting ar mags. Could you be refering to the Ruger PC4 & 9 model? Ones a 40S&W the other is 9mm.http://www.jerzeedevil.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

This is Remington's attempt to keep a little of the patrol rifle market from going completely to AR-15 style weapons systems. It uses essentially the same manual of arms as the tried and true 870 shotgun. The loading is of course a little different, but the safety, pump and trigger should feel very familiar to anyone who has spent time using an 870. If it wasn't so expensive, it would be a fun little plinker.

As far as the BLRs....all of them that I have seen have been very nice. I have not heard spectacular things about their accuracy, but for hunting rifles I have heard they are more than sufficient. If it were me, I would be tempted to go for one of the short action models. Just less of a throw between shots. But then I'm lazy so most of what I have feeds itself!!

Yep! Thats the one...I've shot a 870 for years now, so it will be a no brainer, even for me.:boboli: I'm thinking in terms of a PC urban rifle. If I bought one I would put a purdy wood stock on it....
Still looking for the stainless BLR... Yep, all stainless, or at least a stainless looking finish...:idunno:
