Viperkiller's Sidewinder in progress

When Brian aka Viperkiller and I discussed building him one of my Sidewinder folders the whole concept began to blurr and get crazy...
It went from my standard design to brown canvas micarta scales and a wild snake skin design in tiled mosaic damascus,for the blade.

Here are some in progress pix.. I hope you enjoy them..



#1-Mosaic Billet all put together and flash etched to see the pattern..

#2-All the frame parts after preliminary fitting

#3-Frame and blade together for the first time

#4-Blade after grinding (sorry for the crappy picture)

#5-The blade's first dip into the ferric chloride for the etch..

Tomorrow is handles and assembly!

I have a block of that same mircarta just as thick and I thought it was crap, I think the edges had me fooled (easy to do) but I like those scales alot its a real looker man

I have some of that billet left, but will probably not use it on another knife unless I get Viperkiller's blessing to do so. I built that pattern for him and his knife. I would not feel right building another knife out of it..
