here's something i made recently..:ssmile: it's a little different i guess...

it's a small survival-esque sheath, made for a gossman PSK jr... the gentleman i made it for, said he wanted a sheath that he could carry a few things with... this is what i came up with...

it's got a small pouch that has: 30 ft. of 50# spyderwire, a ferro rod and a chunk of fatwood... on the back of the sheath is a small silva compass and a small signal mirror... it also fits a scout size LMF firesteel...

When I was but a wee lad, I made a sheath for my machete out of an old yellow canvas awning. Stitched it all up by myself using string and didn't stick myself with the needle either! :ross:

That reminds me of an old sheath a friend of mine had for his WWII era machete, it was the thickest canvass I've ever seen.

Hey Ron, what do you mean by exposure? Posting more pics of sheaths? More sheathmaker/knifemaker collaborations?

That last one I'd love to do more of. I am in my own little world with the Busse family and everyone keeps asking me why they dont see my work anywhere else since I am a full time maker. :onoesdevil:

This is my second sheath. You can see where it's effed up on the back side near the tip, where I terminated the stitching with extreme prejudice:jduh: I made the knife and sheath for a co-worker's father's birthday. I think I'm going to stick to just making them for fun, and let others buy if they want to. Too much pressure for my taste doing the custom order crap. I'm just not to that point yet...

Edit: Forgot to mention this was based on Bruce Evan's tutorial! http://beknivessite2.homestead.com/pouchsheath.html

Thats a great looking sheath General Specific! Though i have to remember to finish my coffee BEFORE reading this forum!!!! Almost blew it right out of my nose with the "extrememe prejudice" comment! I love it! :jdsmokin:

Ron, hmmmm, might have to do some collaboration/raffle/contest thinking and begging. Any Texas knifemakers willing to do a Texas/Devil based collab? :RXX:

Thanks Leatherman! Coming from you that means a lot:thumbsup: The problem with doing sheaths is that since I'm not using heavy machinery I tend to get pretty drunk during the process and end up taking about 5 times longer than I should to get 'er done. That sheath was just belly scraps from Wickett & Craig. I didn't want to use the shoulder until I got at least a couple of test sheaths done. The weather's been so nice that I haven't done squat for the last week...

Dave

Here are some pics of 2 sheaths I made at Paul Long's shop a while back. These were for 2 Strider knives that belong to Jason Buda, a knife maker and Army Ranger from Louisiana, who is currently deployed in Afghanistan.

Paul is simply the best friend and teacher a young wayfarer like me could ever have hoped to befriend. Unfortunately, my time has been so limited, I haven't had much time to continue the education and take up the craft with confidence and diligence. I am actually in the process right now of rectifying this situation! :manganr:

Well, its not a direct colab with the maker, but I am working through a deal for a really really nice bowie. I plan to make this my "go all out" sheath.

Anyone heard of this Craig Camerer feller? :firedevil ;) Is he here yet? His work is amazing. :jdsmokin:

Awright Sandy and Paul, how do I get this one in the shows when I git er done?
