This is the first time I've done a full front alligator instead of just an inlay. I think I prefer the inlay to the full front no matter which exotic leather is used.

Paul, I didn't know you were on here....:)

Paul does ALL of my leather work, and he lives like 1 hr away. Matt has been going and learning sheathmaking from him for a while now.

Ron, that knife was/is a very special knife for me and I wanted something spectacular for it and that sheath just didn't quite make "spectacular" for me. It's an okay sheath, the fit is perfect and it functions as it should, but it just didn't quite ring my bell. The bronze stud on the sheath was custom made to match the guard and it's a one shot deal, so if I can come by another stud to match I may start over, otherwise that one will have to do.

Full overlays can be a real challenge huh? Drives me crazy trying to spot the stitching guidelines, especially on tough hides like gator and stingray. I am working on three right now, stingray, and two emu leg skins.

I like the two tone approach as well, very classy. :D You've got one heck of a rig there.

Ahhh. I can relate, indeed I can. It looks good to me, but I trust your opinion more so than mine on this. :growhorns:

The knife was made by Dave Kelly currently of Los Angeles, CA. The stag is the best I've ever seen and the design, fit, finish etc. are without a flaw.
