Yup a semi-auto revolver.
http://www.kitsune.addr.com/Firearms/Revolvers/Mateba_Model_6.jpg

This is a Mateba Model 6 Unica. I've also heard it called the "Auto-Revolver".
Comes in .357 Magnum and .44 Magnum as far as I can find out.

The question is where can I get ahold of one of these puppies without paying a grand?

Anyone seen one of these before? Fired one? Own one (That you don't want anymore maybe?? :) )

I have never handled one of those but I have handled and shot the original Semi-Auto revolver.

The Webley-Fosbury. It is a break open--like a regular Webley. You cock it and fire the first shot--the frame recoils back--rotating the cylinder and re-cocking the hammer.

They were bit Awkward--Clubby and Unreliable.

They were so good the the British Navy Officially had all the issued ones dumped into the English Channel. In very deep water--they never wanted to see them again.

The pistol you show above resembles a Korth and I would suspect that you will never even touch one with out a grand or more changing hands.

I found a listing for a .44 mag one going at about $650.
I dunno if I'll find another one, but one does seem to change hands from time to time.

I can't read Japanese, but here are some rather cool shots of a custom.

I think it's just a model though (pretty likely for Japan).

thing looks like it would blow your hand off but probably not.

I've got my buddy at the local gun store looking for one, sas he remembers a .44 Mag with a 6" barrel around in the area somewhere. He's gonna try to track it down and see how much he can get it for. I'll find out on Tuesday.

I can't wait. Well I can, but you know how it is.

I bet it recoils less than most other revolvers of like caliber.

Thats the idea, plus since the barrel is aligned with the bottom cylinder instead of the top as per usual it's supposed to not kick up as much either.

While I'm thinking about it. For all you Anime fans out there this is supposedly the gun that inspired a couple of interesting revolvers such as the one Togusa carries in Ghost in the Shell, and the one Vash carries in Trigun. There are a few more examples but I can't think of any at the moment.

Cool looking yes. The design strikes me as an elaborate solution to a problem that does not exist. Just my $.02.

BUT got to admit it dosent see much range time. First round is single acction each rd. to follow double action. OVERlug not underlug keeping barrel weighted from top as well making gun very naturally pointable. handles everything from the 165's to the heavy stuff. Down side is ya got to send it to Italy for a cleaning ;-) Enjoy Unica6 from mateba .44 mag.

CDNN had them in 44 for about $600 or so.
I read a few reveiws of them and they were favorable. The design seemed to limit recoil. It looks like it would be a fun gun but repair/parts might be a problem.

ALL above 100%! :-) In stainless they are a bit more.

As mentioned above, CDNN had them, and I believe KY IMPORTS has a few left as well. If I remember right they were .357. :punish:
