I've never seen anyone post a picture of an opened Diamondback, so I figured I'd give it a shot. Note how different the mechanism is from the UTs/Scarabs. The blade is also centered on the Diamondback. The knife has since been reassembled, and is operating flawlessly.

My pleasure posting the picture. I was a little nervous at first when I opened the knife, although I have no problem reassembling a Microtech OTF, this one is definately different. Turns out, it was just as simple. One word of advice, if the knife even thinks you put in too much oil, it won't work. A little goes a long way.

Does the backside of the blade have a slot for the pin on the retraction spring to grab?
Interesting mechanism, but MT's is much simpler. That welded pin looks mighty fragile to me..........
Now will one of you adventurers open up a Sand Shark?

Jack agreed! Take a sidewinder open and scratch your head as they could not have made it more complicated if they tried! They work great and will never wear out but Damn!

Jack, That was my thought ezactly. But I didn't want to seem to be knocking anyone's knife(not that you did either) But the way that post is welded to that other slide bar looks scary. Reguardless, It is a Gorgeous piece and I'd be proud to have one!http://www.jerzeedevil.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif Stabber
