Time to show of your shop, equipment (or lack thereof if you're like me), and just the digs in general.
I know, I'm a lame ass b/c I don't have pics up here in my own thread, but I"m taking decent ones tonight, I promise.....:tubtar:
I like to see how other guys arrange, keep their shops. It also helps us all to get good ideas etc......

How do you like the Grizz lathe? I heard those do a pretty good job. I was fixing to pick up the JET lathe, but I realized I don't have the space..........

It does a good job as long as stock is 3/8 or smaller,I would get a bigger one if I could do it over again.

Shit, if I posted pics of my shop, I'd be in danger of having it closed down for health and safety reasons. Seriously, I have to climb over stuff to get in the room.

I am an industrial designer by trade - when I was in college, the cleaning people refused to clean our shop area after a while because they claimed it was a health and safety hazard. And to think, I used to fall asleep on those shop tables amidst the rubble.
I don't own a home (yet) so I currently don't have a home shop. I am, however, lucky enough to have access to the knifemaking equipment where I work. Now I've just gotta learn how to hollow grind.......

A clean shop means your not working hard enough. Now an organized shop... that's the key.

That's a Huot master machinist (I think that's the name) cabinet. I got this one on Ebay for a couple of hundred. Look around and try to not buy one new. They are like 500$ new..... It holds around 50 different bit sizes per shelf.

Man..what I wouldn't give for a shop like MT. That's really a great set up. Actually my shop has changed quite a bit, all fishing stuff removed, just knife stuff in it now. I think I need to set up some type of exhaust system. I really like MT's PVC set up. Great pics fellas...

Ted,
Kinda, his old shop was near here but he moved further out. In Texas terms we are right next door. In Hawaii terms we long ways away! :)
I haven't had a chance to meet up with him, or any other local makers yet. :ssad:

My shop aint much , and it aint clean....well it was when I moved in and a few years ago when the water line in the ceiling that fed the swamp cooler froze and burst , and flooded the shop with 2 - 4 " of water....
It started as a garage , then was enlarged , converted to a guest house , then to a workshop by the last owner. almost 1140 sq ft complete with full bath. :)
Which comes in handy in the summer when it is 120 degrees in the shop...hit the shower for a few and go right back to it...
My shop consists of
1 1/2 HP variable speed Bader
reversible 1 1/2hp 9" disk sander
2 4 x 36 sanders
a 1 x 42 delta
a 1 x 42 grizzly
upright air compressor
2 floor drill presses
2 blast cabinets , 1 for glass and 1 for al oxide
seperate room for doing my leather work ( where the fridge is at ! )
my neighbor had this bigass lathe sitting on the side of his house , since we do alot of stuff together , I let him set it up in the center room , next weekend we are moving in his full knee mill and setting up the phase converted. The lathe has power down feed and power cross feed and the mill has power feed on X , Y and Z ! we plan to build a surface grinder using 2 x 72 belts real soon.
and yes , that is my unicycle... I still can ride it after all these years. Got that about 22 years ago !

just some more random stuff.... someday I am gonna move a wall or 2 to open it up a bit. First thing that is going is the sliding door. Replacing it with a steel door and moving the bader so that is will be in front of a window so I can vent dust to the dust unit that is getting moved outside.
you can see the center room has been temporarily claimed by the kids as the foosball/bike storage area. Room will get smaller once the mill is moved it , but I think the bikes will be in there still.
John T Wylie Jr.

picts of the red beast... this lathe is definitely not OSHA approved.... this thing will remove an arm in a heart beat.
also a shot of the leather room and the fridge....stalked with what else ? Water !! Cases and cases of water.

At one time I had all my SCCA plaques and shooting trophies on the wall , but got tired of dusting them off , the only thing that remains are a couple Front Sights Certs , one SCCA trophy , 1 bowling pin match trophy , and my 2 favorites , a picture of Rob Simonich that is above my drill presses and a piece of G10 that Ram gave me at the Vegas Classic 2005... it is engraved with |ZERO| , Dervish and Ferret's logo's. It was their advertisement off their table.
