I had to do some more filming for my tech project video on the CETME this weekend, so I brought a couple extra guns and a digital camera along too.

There weren't enough seats for all of us. We like to pretend this is inconspicuous.

The inside of Travis' awesomely shitty truck. He once broke his windshield by tossing a lolipop at it. Note the post-factory switch above his right knee, which now turns the windshield wipers on (for a while, until it overheats and shuts off).

I know none of you will be able to fully appreciate the humor of this picture, but I couldn't resist taking a picture of this kid as we passed him. He's definately one of the top 5 dumbest people I know. Didn't learn to read until 6th grade. Graduated highschool at age 21. Still plays with hot-wheels, but thinks smoking makes him cool. Wears a mullet. Now he's standing shirtless on the side of the road washing cars for nickles.

Having somehow lost my ear plugs, I found some .45 caliber replacements. (It later turned out that Travis accidentally picked them up and put them in his pocket, which he didn't noticed until we got back, in spite of being asked if he had done exactly that).

He only got a little scratched up.

This is the final picture I took, after realising I had the white balance on the wrong setting the entire time.

There was a problem with the Enfield, where for some reason each time a cartridge was fired it would be difficult to extract it. Extracting an unfired cartridge worked fine, so apparently it's due to the brass expanding, but it still shouldn't cause this type of problem. We were firing Portugese .308 if that might have anything to do with it. (Yes, this is a .308 Enfield - and no, it wasn't converted. Ishapores were manufactured in 7.62x51). Here's a video (http://s37.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3OWS53D7D6KE11AQD0Y5RGH01Y) to illustrate.

This is Tyler dicking around afterwards, trying to do a "hood slide (http://s50.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2C1G4L1BH32210RJBARUXQ1BEV)".

By the way, the above videos were taken with my digital camera, not the class camera seen in one of the pictures. Hence the shitty quality. Don't ask me what that incessant clicking is in the background, because I have no idea. It always shows up when that thing records video.

Looks like you guys had a good time. What manufacturer made the 1911? Also, I really like the pic with the brass in mid-air. Those are always cool.

Looks like a day of fun...

If thats a Chevy truck and the wipers dont work normally, 99% of the time the problem is a little circut board in the wiper motor on the firewall under the hood. The part is about $25 from a GM dealership or stick one in your pocket at the wrecking yard. Takes two min and a couple torx wrenches to replace.

I've been having to downsize the scale of my grand shooting extravaganzas since I quit my job. There seems to be a correlation between ammo and money.

Mr. The Mighty Goat,

Not all the pics came through for me, but some did. Nice cellophane bag there. Was there a pipe in there as well? Allthough I would never admonish anyone for going shooting and having some fun with their buddies, I would have to give you a big D- on leaning those rifles against the gate, as well as the rifle leaning in the back of the truck. Those are fundamental no-no's which has claimed many a life. I know a guy who blew his left arm off when he leaned his shotgun against a fence. You guys really need to wear some sort of eye protection too. It only takes one hot round to spoil your day. Glad you had fun, and don't forget what yer ol' pal said when you go shooting next time.

Best regards,

Bonz

I know the rifles in the back of the truck was sloppy, although I didn't really notice it until I was uploading the pictures to my computer. Having them against the gate didn't seem like that bad of an idea to me, though. It was either that or lay them in the sand. They were unloaded at the time, but I know that's not exactly the point when dealing in firearm safety habits.

I bought this magnetic gun holder that ya stick on the truck or car and lean the barrel into the groves. Works well!!

Mr. The Mighty Goat,

There has not yet been any harm done, but it's the 'not yet' factor that bugs yer ol' pal. I lost my very dear and best friend in a hunting accident back in '78.

I wasn't there, thank God.

Please though, exercise the right to implement hobbydom, and keep it safe.

And another thing, if you're not a member, please join the NRA, as well as your local shooting clubs.

I joined the only shooting club around here. I've donated to the NRA before, but I haven't joined because I don't exactly know what they stand for. Other than the advocation of gun rights, obviously.
