I got some really good news this week. First a little back ground.
My wife just finished her second year of law school. She is wicked smart, and has worked VERY hard. Currently 5th in her class (she was offered a full scholarship and graded on and wrote on to Law Review). So taking on extra duties and projects isn't always an easy thing.
She saw a poster on a bulletin board at school about a writing contest hosted by the Second Amendment Society. Three prizes to be awarded. First place $1200, second prize $800 and third $500. The paper had to be pro-second amendment (obviously) and a minimum of 7 pages. She hymned and hawed about writing another paper, but with some encouragement from me and the thought of potentially winning a prize she decided to do the extra work.
Long story short, she wrote her paper. I did a little research for her, and it came out very well I thought. Of course, I know I am biased. Turns out she was the only woman to enter the writing competition, and ended up winning the big prize. She received the congratulatory letter from the NRA today, and is awaiting the prize money.
