I stopped into Gander Mountain yesterday and they are knocking alot of money off of select guns. Both New and Used.

I saw:

A Glock 30 (used) but mint condition (newest model with finger grips) with factory night sights. They were asking $450 originally. After the markdowns it was $260.

A Springfield XD .40 (used) but mint condition after markdowns $250.

New Colt match AR-15's $775

New Armalite AR-15 with Stainless barrel $800

Too many good deals to mention.

We have no Gander Mountain and out here in the West they want top dollar for junk. Cabela's sucks and I will never go into another of their stores.

This is the first time they had two huge tables with marked down Demo's.
I don't find there gun prices too good. even in there trade in racks.

On another forum, someone said they were going out of business... I don't know if that's true or not - just passing along the rumor.

It'd kinda be too bad if they did go out of business. I don't get there often, it's a 40 mile one way drive, but when I do I usually find what I need.:mack:

They're pirces on handguns are a bit pricey. you can find some
fair prices on ammo. a good variety of self-defense ammo.

Gander's prices are high on some things. I've always done my research to know what items are selling for before taking the plunge. I've brought in ads from other stores and they've matched prices. I've had them call other stores to check prices and they've matched prices. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

After doing some research - it appears to be single stores that are shutting down. Apparently competition is fierce. Some areas show closures of Bass pro, Sportsman's Warehouse, and Gander Mountain outlets while the competitor thrives.. It seems to be more of a "jockeying for position" type-thing for now.

In my experience, most things at Gander, Midway, Cabela's, Sportsman's Warehouse, etc are grossly overpriced.

But if you know what you want, know what it's worth, and have the patience to wait for one of them to put it on sale, you can get some pretty good buys once in a while.

You're right sometimes - but I just picked up my HKS speed loaders for $7.99 (locally from sportsman's warehouse)

That's less than Midway wanted + shipping & insurance..

I stopped by a Gander Mountain about 50 miles from me after hearing the price on that Glock. And as I expected, they had there same outrageous prices. Not a single deal to be had in the store.
