Here's the first steps of a custom knife made according (at least I'm trying :D ) to a previous customer's ideas.

He wanted "a knife can be made similar to your 'Rope & Cable drop point' but with chain", with the chain pattern carried to the handle.

He sent me some pics of his ideas for the handle and shape of the knife and we arranged a san mai damascus blade with the links of the chain showing on the sides and an epoxyed handle over chain, to prevent dirt to get inside the links and to provide a warmer grip.

Knife design and measures.

Some emails back and forth and here's the result so far:

Prepared chain and core steel to be forged:

Already welded and took to first shape.

Partially ground blade (this only side is ground so far)
If I continued the swedge it would loose most of the chain factor, so we arranged to leave it that way.

Very unique, Ariel! Can't wait to see how this one progresses. I don't think Clyde realizes his leash is missing, yet! ;)

Finished blade with guard and handle.

I'm in the process of carving the handle now to make it comfortable when I wrap the chain on the wood.
