I'm looking for a fixed blade knife to take with me the next time I go to the middle east. Carrying a large fixed blade isn't practical in my job (aircraft maintenance, lots of squeezing in tight places). I want to take a small fixed blade in case the SHTF. This will be a sort of "last-ditch effort" knife as I will have a SAK or folder also for normal use. Here are the ones I'm considering right now:

Becker Necker (http://www.camillusknives.com/1mainframe.htm?bkt/bk11.shtml~main)
TOPS Wolf Pup (http://store.yahoo.com/topsknivesstore/wolfpupwp010.html)
Ranger Knives Little Bird (http://www.rangerknives.com/Knives/little_bird.htm)
BRKT Mikro-Slither (http://www.knifeforums.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=584659)

If I get the Becker Necker I will probably add a thin micarta handle. The BRKT Mikro-Slither isn't in production yet, but should be available by the time I have to deploy again. Which would you pick, and why?

Thanks

I also like these knives for SHTF, although for me, they don't have enough general utility purposes. I will add Benchmade 210 to the mix of choices since it is compact, small, and just feels right in the hand.

I'm looking for a utility/survival knife, not a self defense knife. ;-)

I know a Few people who love their Becker necker. Ive handled one a few times and it s quite nice. Only down side is if u have large paws its hard to grasp the knife well.

Strider WP, Dude, or an Emerson PUK. Both are readily available, can take a beating, and are great knives.

The WP can be had in a multitude of configurations, and you can get .mil discount. The PUK is not 'big and scary', and works well with or without gloves, while having a useable, unobtrusive blade length.

A Brock blade would be great for your intended use too!!!!

Whatever you decide on, I hope you post up a review of how it held up on your tour.

Shit, it's up from the 36th chamber. I didn't even think to look at the date.
