When it's done could you post it?
I've been using the same marlinespike for years and some day I know I'll want to replace it.
Here is my old reliable;
http://www.craftgeeks.com/forum-files/misc/BuckYahtsman01.JPG
I've always found the handle gives me leverage and control, so when I replace it I'll need a good handle on the new one.

What Ron is forgetting here is that this was all part of my master plan to get him to shut up about seeing the Ben & Jerry's factory and the Vermont Teddy Bear factory...I had to trick him to do it, but hey...it worked... :thefinger

And to think, 2 days ago I'd never even heard of a marlin spike...apparently they're more common than I ever imagined. Am I the only one who hasn't tied a lot of knots and done a lot of rigging?

I used to only use mine on 3 strand rope. Weaving the ends back in to form loops and such. Now I use it mainly when making lanyards and dog leashes. Weaving the ends back in to hide them when the piece is done.

We're getting there...I had some unexpected "setbacks" in life that caused me to lose about a month of shop time...but we're getting better! This is first to get finished and off the bench, I'm just to detail work now.

Interesting....I had Delbert Ealy make these up earlier this year for me (the top one is from metorite damascus, which I gave to my son, the bottom one I cord wrapped the loop and use on a very regular basis, both with the Boy Scouts and around the house) Very handy, very cool, and Del is great to work with.
