Let me peg this up here for the night, I am off to the back porch to check it out Thanks for the heads up. For the East Coast guys, it goes down totally at 1025 or something, started at 9something, so get outside

The clouds quit just as it passed the halfway point. It looks really cool down here. I really need a tripod for pics. I tried to take some with the digitial camera, but I can't find a steady enough rest for a flashless picture. :dammit:

Thanks for this post! Otherwise, I would have missed it...

The clouds cleared out a little while ago and it is very clear tonight. In fact, I can see the eclipse from my upstairs window.

Very cool!! :smt023 :smt006

Must have been just what the Red Sox needed to win the Series!

Something is just not right about Boston winning The Series. It's just a given that the Sox and Cub fans HAVE to be miserable. It would have been so cool if the had lost 4 straight after going to a 3-0 lead. Oh well....

Saw the first half; it was awesome, and I got some awesome pictures to boot! It got cloudy during the re-emerging, so I didn't get to see it. Plus, the encore of the new episode of South Park was on at 11!

I may post the pictures on Rammy; you'll just have to look there to see them...I'm sorry; I don't do the pic host thing yet.

BTW: The Great Bambino's curse isn't the first one to be broken during an eclipse; ever see the 1985 movie Ladyhawke with Rutger Hauer, Matthew Broderick, and Michelle Pfeiffer??

My almanac says:

The moon will enter prenumbra at 3:16pm ET and leave prenumbra at 9:25pm ET.

Of course the actual moment at which the moon will be full happens at 6:17pm ET.

Will be visible in eastern USA.

This is the lunar eclipse from January 1994. Time exposure. Don't have time to go find my original print. The original print is a lot better, but this is an old laser copy of the original print.

You got me... I was reading the first page, saying that it was on at around 9:00 PM, and people discussing how it looked at 11 PM... wondering WTF? Wrong eclipse! Duh.

it was cloudy most of the day here and i was really getting bummed at expecting to miss out on another eclipse. as it turned out i only really missed the part where the moon is next to invisible during totality. i didn't expect to be as lucky as i was and i also didn't intend on swiping my roommate's camera. i just figured funk it, you don't get too many opertunities such as this and he'd understand if he found out.

i'm glad you like the picture. it came out way better than i thought i'd be capable of.

Well, I can't wait til 2012 (maybe I'll still be alive then).

The planets will be in a particular alignment that only occurs once in 25,000 years.
