I made this as a prototype for my LH Sebenza. The first proto had a snap on the back but it didn't hold well. I need to find some heavy duty snaps that won't pop when the knife is removed from the the sheath. This little fuck up led me to the current proto you see below. The wider top loop prevents the sheath from twisting while still being held secure witht eh double stitched tab. Enjoy!

The only thing I fucked up on this one is the belt loop. I forgot to allow for the thickness of the belt itself. It's a bit tight getting a 1.5" wide belt throught the loop. It will eventually stretch out but I should have done it right the first time. Silly me.

Pull-the-dot snaps are the type most commonly used on holsters. They are the ones that are directional. I think they would be perfect for this application. I have been very pleased with them on a variety of leather and nylon pieces.

What sizes do you recommend for 7-8 oz leather?

I would not even know where to start on the sizing. I have never built any, just used a lot of pieces that already had them installed. I'll look around and see if I can see any sizes on the ones I have.
