One of my favorite artists has a show opening at Catherine Clark Gallery, 49 Geary St., San Francisco. February 1- March 31, 2007
Masami Teraoka is widely known for early works that combine the aesthetics of traditional Japanese Edo period woodblock prints, or ukiyo-e, with products and cultural references informed by Western society.

Most likely ... but this is probably a black tie affair and he wouldn't be allowed to photograph paintings. The images are controlled -
Teraoka has had solo shows at MOMA and the Whitney, his work in in the permanent collection of the Tate Museum in London, the Smithsonian, and at least 50 other top museums all over the world.
In "Birth of Venus" Teraoka has painted himself as the ambiguous white haired figure with glasses upper left.

I had to read it twice. At first, I thought she was saying they wouldn't let you in, like it was a personal judgment on you, buddy.
Where you been? Missed your good photochops.

I'm sorry if I gave that impression - They want people to come to the Gallery - They are trying to sell paintings. - and as far as dress - well it's in SF, and not at the museum so, on second thought, it shouldn't be formal - in fact, it's probably going to be hoot just based on clothes alone! I wish I could go.
Spaceinvader - You can stop by there anytime, invitations are needed only for the opening (because they want to know how much vino to bring in :jdwink2: Catherine Clark seems very nice, also. They won't let you take photos, but you can get printed images of the paintings. A catalog of Terakoa's work will be available.
