Only lightly photoshopped (for colour), most of it was me attempting a self portrait while playing with long exposure :)

MLV, I still can't get over that pic of you... ask DD what "number 4" means...

And, Ros... I can tell you're having fun. We're going to have to turn this into a swap-pix-and-chop-each-other party.

I should have gone to bed, but a chop-challenge can keep me up all night...

Here are my serious submissions...

You can tell how I spent the last half of the 70s... (check out that little cat-demon guy, peeking around my shirt collar... I don't know WHERE the hell that little guy came from. I'm still trying to figure out how he got in the picture?)

We really ought to get a little photochop instruction forum going, but it might be a bit to ask, since JD has expanded so far beyond its original mission. Plus, it is real time consuming to learn the full, awesome powers of the chop.

Nigel Hell is (in addition to being a photography professor at an east coast college) something of an expert, having discovered, and (I think) having been published on cetain undocumented features and capabilities of PS. Yet, in our long, close friendship, we've never had time to sit down together and work PS. For one thing, it would be very one-sided, I am sure. I doubt I could teach her anything in return for her being my PS guru.

With PS, you can do almost anything with an image that you can do with either paint brushes or a camera, plus so much more... other than putting oil on canvas. I can do just enough, that I am in humble awe of its power. I am probably only using 10% of it. I'd like to learn more, but it's almost too tempting to sit at the computer all night long as it is.

Awe Xray you are too kind, and too cute! I'll show you anything I know anytime you like, I always like a quick study!

By the way, I'm sure you could teach me a thing or 2 about PS, its such an endless and vast program that I learn something new from my students every quarter so someone as smart as yourself is sure to have some great info for me. For every one way of doing something in PS there are at least 5 other ways of doing the same exact thing (just some take longer). You know what program you and Deadeye need to start messing around w/? Of course you don't becuase I haven't told you yet....you need to check out Corel Painter IX. I swear when I move some of the paint brushes around I feel I am pushing real paint. Plus the layers in Corel translate to PS so you can work between the 2 programs using layers. I just love layers! Check out these websites, they have pretty sound tutorials that won't leave you hanging and they show you how to do some cool stuff. Biorust is the best but the other 2 are good as well.

Here's an angry shot, I was trying out the Photobooth software and webcam on my new Macbook. A very short lived avatar

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/nickshepherd/MyPicture-1.jpg

And this is a shot of the screen of a seriously expensive thermal imaging camera screen (about $100,000 according to the guy we took it from) It's used for checking out large vessels on production platforms to see whether there's any liner damage but I saw it and thought "Wow, how cool is that" and we pinched it from the Shell tech who was using it to look at various things round the place. See how my glasses are cold and my beard is hot.

http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y60/nickshepherd/PB130002.jpg

I was going to upload my passport sheet too as I like how a repeated image makes you look more at the shape of an image rather than the content. Unfortunately, it was a Photoshop image and it still has some funny file elements despite being a Jpeg now.

It's just the usual 'shiny thing attraction' that afflicts a lot of guys. i was typing away, not doing any work at the workstation next to the gas testing bay. A Shell tech put down something that looked like a cheapo video camera.

Something about it twanged my magpie gene though and I looked again. saw a big fish eye gold lens "Hello" I thought "here's interesting. What's that then?" He told me and I showed all the right interested faces "£50,000 you say, well I never. Let's have a go then."

So we lifted it and started off looking at each other, then all the other guys we could see, computers, light fittings. We got our PPE on with the guy trailing along behind whittering on how he has to go out and check things. We were looking at the flare (very nice, big balls of fire look GOOD through these things), the sea (trying to sea if there were any dolphins or seals around). The poor guy eventually got his heat cam back with about five minutes battery life left.

You do need one, they have video feeds too, even though this one was just on the view screen. maybe government surplus sales/ auctions might turn one up.
