Deadeye asked me to get some images ready for her, then she stumbled off to enjoy her nightly jacuzzi, so I'll post the pix and she can comment later.

But, I'll tell the basic story as I know it.

She had a dream one night, that she sat up in bed, and she saw "the boogeyman" come out of our closet. He was kind of yellowy-orange colored, and he did a little dance... he literally "boogied." She told me about it when I woke up that morning.

As fate would have it, that very morning on the way to work, I found a yellowy-orange turtle on the road about a mile from the house, and I picked him up, turned around, and brought him home to her.

She named him "Boogieman," after the dream.

So, here's a picture of the turtle and the painting she did to depict the dream:

I know it is a silly thought..........maybe I'm still 1/2 asleep , but it looks like he is eying the turtle with whiskey on his breath and lust in his heart.
And the turtle is looking back as if to say " try it , fuckko "
I really like this one.........even with the guy creeping me out.

I felt the sexual tension too. The turtle says no but the orange man says YEEES. I haven't seen this painting. Nice one Judy. Do you still have any of the turtles or have you released them all.

The story doesn't end there, however! A Baltimore filmmaker saw the painting at my studio and wanted to buy it. Earlier that week, he told us, he'd left the door open at his house and a turtle walked in his living room ... !

He also collects what he called "bald" art, so he just had to have this painting.

"Boogieman" is a big painting - it wouldn't fit in the guy's car so Xray and I delivered the painting to his home. The man has a great art collection.

So Boogieman "the painting" ended up in excellent company in a good home.

Boogieman "the turtle" had a terrible abscess which we treated for two years. After two courses of injected antibiotics, nutritional supplements, and feminine companionship :madaddy: Boogieman was taken to the exact place he was found and released back into his home habitat.

I miss both Boogiemen ...

I did the sexual "subliminals" as a pun - like - "Hey girl, ya wanna boogie ... ?" The original dream had a slight sexual aspect, so I felt it would be dishonest to exclude that from the painting.

Everyone who sees that in this painting is discomforted by it. John Yau, the NY art critic, enjoyed that. He said the turtle was the best thing about it.
