Thanks all to pieces for the kind welcome on the knife art thread.

I am currently fighting with photobucket to upload a decent representation of the painting I want you to see.

Back in a mo.

I think we should just use magnifiers - ... I will scrutinize her details later ... :madaddy: :devilzeek :jdwink2:

Actually, I've already scrutinized her details and they are extremely lovely ...

How big is this painting?

I like the blue. (green?)

I dont know from the red/orange/yellow colors if she's in the throes of passion or if she's constrained in hell.
Am I just way the heck off?

The fabric or shroud over her, I interpret as, that she won't go out with me.

This piece is 33" x 8' - pretty big for me.

I'm OK with the dichotomy of passion and hell - very interesting. however, it reaffirms my concern that the fabric being pulled taught suggests violence. Perhaps I should relax the shroud?

Maybe Umberto could give it a muscle relaxer ... :devilzide

I can't see the painting well enough to comment on the implied violence ... sorry.

I dont think the fabric being pulled tight suggests violence. To me it suggests that this woman is able to push the boundaries and that even something covered up can be passionate and erotic.

You dont need to see it to sense it.

and now to beat a dead horse...

I have figured out how to "manage attachments" - this should look better. So here it is, yet again, if anyone is still interested in seeing it.

I am getting eroticism , but it has a quality of most art I like in that it poses questions to me. Has an uncertain kind of emission and leaves me wondering.
not quite eerie or forbidding , but not exactly welcoming.
Do I want to embrace it , or will there be unpleasantness if I do ?
Much warmth , but underlying mystery. Calling , yet warning off sort of vibe.
And I haven't taken a goddamned thing. Go figure ?
And that's it from art appreciation -101.

I agree, nor do the colors. I don't get any violent, or bad vibes fom it.

To me, the colors intimate mature passion and satisfied lust, while the sheet being pulled tight represents her struggle between the burning desire to join her man in the shower, and the need to make herself feel complete as a woman, by fixing him a sammich!

This painting is excellent! Im well impressed!
I like how it makes me think there are other things in it. faces, and shadows and creature forms. It looks peacefull but very unsettleing at the same time.
it looks Homely and basic and simple, but at the same time something else...
I love it!
Any more to show?

I haven't done much in this vain - at least not since art school.

I'm going to mill over those particular adjectives, T. Homely, peaceful, AND unsettling. Wow - I'm impressed, too! Thanks for the input all.

I don't often get to make anything that evokes such responses, and it's only partially done. I may have to pursue this stream of consciousness approach to painting. Jimmy Joyce may have been onto something after all.

I'm not sure how or what I feel about this incredibly sexy painting but it did cause me to take another gulp of my coffee and reach for a cigarette. Thank you for expanding my horizons.

It's up for grabs (to the highest bidder, of coarse)

Yes, I will have the opportunity to show this one. The man it was designed for doesn't think it's what he wants, which is OK because he wasn't clear about what he wanted at all when we first met and this was a wild stab in the dark. Now, that he's had something to react to, I have an idea of what he DOES want.

All in a days work - for an artist. Anyway, here it is in it's current state.
