View Full Version : Well ... there's always something happening here.
This time, it's a wolf.
More specifically, a wolf that is eating the local dogs, stray and otherwise.
Now, having a puppy and going out for walks with him is sort of like trolling for wolves I suppose. If the packs of strays weren't enough, now I have to think about a wolf following me on my nightly walks. Carrying a firearm is sort of out so I get to carry a hookeroon and various other sharp objects.
One night, due to tracks between my house and the neighbours, the 10/22 came out with me as well.
I spotted the wolf the other morning and found saucer size paw prints up and down the road here.
Kind of spooky but ... a wolf pelt might pay for some of the Christmas gifts.

Can you shoot a wolf there? Get caught shooting one in the states and they hang you by your nuts. I guess you could in self-defense.
I suppose I am asking how much protection wolves have in Kanada.

If you have to shoot a wolf (or anything for that matter) follow the rule of the 3 S's.....
Shoot
Shovel
Shut up!

i know people who live in northern Minnesota and their old neighbors had half wolf dogs that were in a cage. they would go crazy at the sight of a human. they escaped and ate some local dogs and horses a few times. it sucked.

can you just blow up the wolf? plant a dead cat somewhere with a remote controlled explosive in it and then after it eats it blow it up. :)

the anarchists cookbook could help with that
The wolf can be shot on sight, day or night. In fact, my small game licence allows me to hunt them throughout the year.
Unlike New Jersey, shots at night mean someone is shooting a dog, a wolf, or a bear. No one really pays it much mind.
However, on our little strolls in the evening, we pass the school and through the middle of town. I'm guessing that might provoke a response.
During Christmas, two were shot but there is a third still wandering around. As there are a lot of strays and a fair amount of garbage in some yards, it is easy pickings.
*** On a side note, I did manage to take out a squirrel that had taken up residence in my attic. I was going to nail it to the house to give warning to the wolf but, like all good ideas, it didn't happen. The dog did enjoy chewing on it for a while though. ***
