Been paring down my collection as of late so that all I have are a few knives that I know I will edc. I've grown tired of buying knives just for the sake of buying knives! One thing I didn't have was an auto and I had almost pulled the trigger on a Dalton Exp Packer, but ended up backing out on it. Then I thought about an Amphibian as I have had a couple, one manual, one auto, both generation 1's. I ended up with a generation 2 that has a S30V blade, satin finished, and is part serrated. Everything about the knife is top notch. Action is hard and fast, blade is tight and immobile upon opening, safety is small enough to not be a complete nuisance and in fact I actually like it. Only thing I don't really like is the funky screws, cause I can't get in there without spending $50.00 for the correct tools, and the "sandpaper" inserts. I couldn't do anything about the screws although the clip did have some regular #8 torx screws which allowed me to remove said clip and give it a torched and heat colored finish which has really subdued that bright and shiny clip that it was. The other thing I've done is to replace the sandpaper inserts with some rayskin inserts. I used some rayskin that had the ridge pearls in it and must say it worked quite excellent. The edges of the inserts come flush with the handle, while the middle part of the insert (ridge pearls) actually sticks out about 1/16" and just plain looks sharp! Get this, I glued them in with some quick set JB Weld!! Yep the JB Weld ends up turning a deep dark gray and it served to fill in some gaps that resulted from cutting the inserts out of the rayskin. Mind you the gaps were barely noticable to begin with but are now virtually nonexistant.

Guess you will have to take my word for it that it looks 100% better, since I can't do the picture thang!! :hityou: :-D :-D
