I want one so bad. I really like the concept behind them and think that they make a great rifle to have if you could only have one. Jack of all trades, master of none. Of course, I set my sights on one of the, if not THE best scout rifles; damn my exspensive tastes. These are made by Yost-Bonitz (http://www.yost-bonitz.com/photos/scout/), check it out:

What calibres does it come in? Whats the price range?

It's based on the Winchester M70 action and I think they can build it off of a Remmington 700 too. So, you can get it in a variety of calibers. It is a custom piece so it's pricey, I emailed them asking about the price. I'm gonna guess somehwere around 2K, but I may be wrong.

If I get an Enfield for a scout, I'd take one like this:

Just got an email back from them. Depending on options and if you supply the action, the gun runs around 3K. Maybe I wont be getting one of these...that's a lot of damn money.

I should have bought one when it first came out. :(

For that kind of money , I think I will stick with my 6.5x55 Swedish , model 38 --- It is flat shooting and accurate as can be. Also it is inexpensive to shoot, especially if you reload.

I like the S.A. Scout, but it always felt a little heavy to me. I did not think there was much of a felt weight difference between the full size and the scout. But it does look cool and if I ever have the opportunity I will pick one up.

The Steyr's never felt right to me either. The integral bipods just felt flimsy. I'm sure it works fine as a system and it is an interesting concept, but asthetically it never caught my eye.

For years I have been wanting to get an M1 form Sprinfield Armory. I think the SOCOM version has now moved high up on my 'to do list'. :punish:

I've been reading about the Socom 16's and people say that they are less reliable due to the smaller gas system.

Really!??? Shit, that is a bummer. Any good links you could provide. I really like the looks of the SOCOM but if that is true would probably have to pass.

:punish: Yea Tiny, That is THE Scout :punish: The most comftable rifle I've ever held. I will own one, Someday  But not in that odd Steyer .376 cal. I want it 08, which are kinda rare.

The Steyr Scout is a sweet firearm. A bit pricey, but oh so sweet. Haven't shot one yet but have held it. Like all the Steyr rifles, it just feels right when at the shoulder.

Don't discount this one Dylan.

The Enfield is an old military rifle. I have one. It's in .303, a British caliber.

Why? You could do better for that type of money, obviously you don`t realize what it is like to have to carry one any distance. It is good in a fixed position but every time you strip it to clean it,you have to re-zero it.
