You know, I can't recall you ever actually starting a thread before now. I can only remember you replying, and rarely at that. You picked a good subject for a first thread, though. http://www.imgmag.org/images/pseudoname/thumbs_up.jpg

Second Amendment to the
Constitution of the United States

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Now I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer but that comma after free state means one of two things.Either it means " and " or it shows a change in thought.Either way these anti-gun idiots and the Supreme Court do not know how to read or know what a comma is for--and these people are suppose to be educated.

It definitly means private ownership of arms for the individual and not having to be a member of any kind of militia .

Mr. AK-47,

I think your close to the mark with the comma thing. In this particular case, I feel the comma is used to set off a nonrestrictive clause. If the clause was restrictive, then the comma should not have been used. You have brought up a very critical point concerning the punctuation. Good work.
