Sorry if I teased any of you peter puffers out there to click on this thread.
This is about big guns, I mean big rifles :smooch:
I got to fire around 50 rounds of a .458 Lott this past weekend. I actually knocked a crown loose. My right cheek (of my face) is swollen. Why? Because I can. This cartridge is a little over 6000 ft. pounds of energy at the muzzle. Without a brake. It makes my .50 bmg recoil feel like a .223.
The good news is that I don't need Viagra anymore. Nothing quite like natural wood.
Sorry about the visual
Wooden Indian=wooden dick, right? :punish:
Never fired anything as big as the .458 Lott, but I'd jump at the chance!

Fifty caliber to really reach out and touch someone. The 500 S & W is great for a hand cannon. :-D

.50 Barrett is my favorite--since I can`t have a 5 ton truck with Quad .50s on it. But actually , unless you can afford the big bore guns and their ammo--why bother when a smaller calibre with less recoil will do the job with proper bullet placement. Big Calibres are good for vehicles and buildings but overkill for animals and men. Most people get big calibers and then only shoot it a few times. It has been proven that the lager calibres can and will cause eye damage and joint damage if shot for any length of time.

You are right--but being deaf is one thing--if you are blind also you couldn`t even see them coming--I`ll stick to something that doesn`t abuse me like those big bore guns--and still be able to get the job done.

Kaxter-Thanks for the welcome.I have a friend who has an original 1873
Springfield Trapdoor in .45/70 caliber and it still fires  I want one of the sharps replicas in .45/70 and the model 1895 Marlin in .45/70.It's a good cartridge and works well on bear or deer.

Tiny-Looks like you have hogue grips on your .44mag try some shooting gloves that should help as well. Also do you fire handloads or factory ammo?I had a S&W Model 29 with a 10 5/8 Bull Barrel it was the silhouette model wished i had it back now.I fired it with the factory wood grips and it never hurt my hand.As far as the .454 Casull it doesn't have the recoil that the .480 Ruger does. The .480 takes some getting used to but once you have fired it some you learn how to hold it properly so it doesn't hurt you.BTW hogue in my opinion makes the best grips on the market so i wouldn't change them if it was my gun.

Thanks for your reply. The gun shop owner suggested getting shooting gloves, but I ignored him. (I am an idiot) Please tell me which gloves to buy?

It doesn't kick bad because it is so barrel heavy. The big, soft grips are helpful too. They have one now with a 3 inch barrel that should be fun to shoot.

why bother when a smaller calibre with less recoil will do the job with proper bullet placement.
I'm away for a few days and the pussies come out the woodwork. Yep, nothing like breaking out your .223 to hit that coyote at 1000 steps
Next time you're out in the woods, make sure you tie some kerosene soaked rags around your ankles. You wanna make sure them red ants don't eat your candy ass.

Well, sprinkle some sugar on me and suck my dick. We got us here a bonifide weapons expert. Tell me Ak, if I wanted to kill, let's say a three story building, should I use an '06 or a seven mag? :ar15: How 'bout a bldg. the size of the Empire State Bldg? Damn, I'm thinking I might have to go all the way up to a .300 WM.
I would also be interested in your "proof" of eye damage and joint damage.
Edited to be nice. I forgot that I'm a kindler, gentler asshole.

Tinysd,
Don't go getting those gloves yet!
I have shot ALOT of different framed 44's and the gloves with that
piece will result in blisters to go with the soreness.
You are on the right track with the Hogue grips, just ditch those
rubber ones and get a set of Woodys.
The gun will be able to pivot upward a little smoother and displace
alot of the recoil,it works! Without getting fancy with barrel weights, etc.
PS. I can also vouch for at least the joint problems associated with
large caliber guns, especially big bore handguns. Rifle stock slapping
is what causes the eye stuff, and I only read about that(medical book).
So as with anything COOL,do it in moderation with proper protection!
