This is so "Komodo Luck" that even I'm laughing at it!

For the past couple of weeks I've been having problems with my pool filter. I did everything I could (a considerable amount of work!!!!) to get it to work. No matter WHAT I did, it wouldn't work for more than an hour. I finally broke down, and went to my local pool supply store's repair shop. The guy there was great, BUT, he couldn't figure out what was wrong with it either! He gave me a business card from a private pool repair company and told me to give them a call, which I did.

This guy was great too. We went over everything I had already done to the filter, and he said the only thing he could think of that MIGHT work, is giving the filter elements an acid bath overnight.

I take the filter apart yet again, do the acid bath, put everything back together again, and it STILL doesn't work.

I have no choice but to buy a new filter. :ssad:

I check out the local pool stores, and they all want TOP dollar for a replacement filter. I decide to go home and see if I can find a better price on line, which I do! Found what I wanted for $150 LESS than the best price I found in the brick & mortar stores! :ssmile::ssmile::ssmile:
I order it!

THEN....I go into the backyard.
The old pool filter is working perfectly! :demented:

But wait! This gets even better!

I'm fucking around in the backyard for about an hour or so, making SURE the filter is going to continue to work. Decide it will, and go back inside to cancel the new filter.
I open my email to get the order info, and see the tracking number for the package. They already shipped it out!!!!:devilzeek It'll be here this afternoon.
FUCK ME!!!!!:bwah::ross::bwah::ross:

Contact the online store and see if they will take a return within 30 days.
Hold onto it and just see if the filter you already have will work. Or just keep it for next year.

Just keep the filter you ordered. With your luck, the filter will die the day you return the new one. :bwah:

I'm sure they'd accept a return, but as Tiny says, if I did return it, that's when the old one would die for good!

Yeah it does suck, BUT, one good thing did come of this.
This pool supply place I found on line seems to be pretty damn good. :devilzeek
They've got some pretty LOW prices on some of their items, no tax, and free next-day shipping (over $50). They had my order shipped out in less than two hours from the time I first placed the order. It's taken me longer to pick up stuff at my brick&motor store! :bwah:

Well, 2 filters are better than one

Maybe you'll get REALLY lucky and the original stops working now :D

You just HAD to say something didn't you! :demented:

The original filter was only working at 50%, so yesterday I went out and replaced it with the new one.

Now, anyone who owns a pool knows that whenever you do work on it, something always goes wrong. :bwah: I took that into account, and planned on 3 hours to swap out the filters.
It took me all of 20 minutes! :devilzeek Things NEVER went this easy, and trouble free before. I'm all ready to do the "Happy Dance".....then I notice.............

The fuckin' PUMP sprang a leak! :komodo:
This is a brand new pump I bought this season!
It's under warranty, BUT, I'd have to send it in to the manufacturer for repairs. That could take several MONTHS to get it back.
I've got no choice but to bring it to the repair shop and hope they can fix it, and then have to PAY for the repairs! :ssad:
By the time I get it back, it'll be time to close the pool down for the year.

I can't fuckin' win!!!:bwah: :bwah: :bwah: :bwah: :bwah: :bwah: :bwah:

Not so my friend! :devilzeek

With all the trouble I've had with the pool this season, I developed a good relationship with the guy at the repair shop. When he saw me walk in with the busted pump yesterday, he started laughing! :bwah: He asked what was wrong this time, I tell him, and without even looking at the pump, he fills out paperwork and tells me to go into the store and they'll give me a NEW pump, free of charge! :devilzeek
The store manager wasn't all too happy about that, but I got my new pump for free. :ssmile:

Now I have a new pump, and a new filter, the pool water is crystal clear and inviting. If it EVER stops raining, I might even be able to get in there one more time before I have to close it down for the year! :ross::ross::ross:
